2012 Occoquan Challenge COMPETED IN
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2012
The Occoquan Challenge is rowed on a three mile (5000 meter) course on the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax, Virginia. Unlike any other head race currently held in the United States. The Occoquan Reservoir at Sandy Run Park provides rowers with some of the best racing conditions in the world.
Held on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 10:00AM-3:00PM, the Occoquan Challenge is not a stake race, or a stop-and-go course, this race allows competitors to race flat out on a fully buoyed course with several challenging turns. Both the start and finish are at the same location!
Additionally, the schedule format and design of race course gives competitors the opportunity to race several times and easily enter and exit the river. Competitors who break any course record receive a free entry until their record is broken. Every event winner receives a custom medal and many events have trophies.
